The legal system is complex and can be frustrating, especially to someone who has just suffered the death of a loved one. I take my role as a counselor at law very seriously: to explain the process and to utilize my knowledge, expertise, and patience to guide and assist individuals in Surrogate’s Court at a vulnerable time.

Ms. Katz is proud to be working with the Manhattan personal injury law firm of Barasch McGarry Salzman & Penson, Esqs., whose attorneys are devoted advocates for NYC firefighters, NYC police officers, construction workers, 9/11 first responders and their respective families. She is utilizing her Surrogate’s Court expertise to assist many of the widows and children of these brave and dedicated men and women to petition the Court for Letters of Administration or to probate decedent’s Last Will and Testament. Their deaths from various injuries, cancers and respiratory ailments have been linked to exposure to the toxic air and dust while working at the World Trade Center site on or after 9/11. The September 11th Victims Compensation Fund has been reopened and will hopefully provide compensation to the spouse and children of these decedents.
Ms. Katz also serves as outside counsel to members of the New York State Trial Lawyers’ Association. She uses her expertise in Surrogate’s practice and procedure to assist negligence and medical malpractice attorneys in preparing Wrongful Death/Personal Injury Compromises, and bringing these cases to decree in the Surrogate’s Courts of all New York City boroughs, as well as Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and Rockland counties.
